Abstract

Blending of elastomers is often used to improve properties of rubber vulcanizates. The present review deals with unsaturated rubbers, their miscibility problems and their compatibilisation. It describes phase distribution of curing agents and its influence on properties of vulcanizates. Hysteresis, adhesion and tack, transport properties, electric conductivity and mechanical properties are discussed as well as the methods for characterisation of the blends, such as optical as well as electron microscopy and dynamic mechanical analysis.
