Abstract

Carbonaceous aerosols in atmosphere are often analyzed in the form of two basic components – organic carbon (OC), which represents a wide range of organic compounds, and elemental carbon (EC). This paper describes in detail the principles of thermo-optical analysis of EC and OC in aerosols. Further it shows the possibilities of the data interpretation, as well as examples from real measurements.
