Abstract

In the presented work, a highly active catalyst for the transfer hydrogenation of ketones was prepared. By reaction testing with acetophenone as a model substrate, the influence of the catalytic base on the activity of the catalyst was assessed. Potassium tert-butoxide was ultimately found to be the most suitable base, providing highest activity of the catalyst. Subsequently it was discovered that the base plays an important role in the activation of the substrate.
