Abstract

The aim of this work is to find an environmental-friendly process for elimination of cyanobacteria and algae in circulating cooling waters and inhibition of their growth. The process should replace the commonly used chemical agents which require frequent dosing or large doses of the agents. A proper substitution for chemicals is singlet oxygen, which is produced by interaction of light and a functional dye dissolved in circulating water.
