Abstract

A new design of a combined UV-spectrophotometric and contactless conductivity detector is described. The conductometric part consists of two semicylindrical electrodes onto which the separation capillary is pressed. A single optical fiber fixed in the gap between the electrodes brings light to the capillary with a transparent window. A photodiode fixed close to the optical window records the light passed through the capillary. This arrangement permits simultaneous conductometric and spectrophotometric detection at the same place of the capillary and easy exchange of the capillary without an effect on the geometry of both parts of the detector.
