Reductive Determination of Gold at Carbon Paste Electrode Using Constant-Current Stripping Analysis

Abstract

The paper deals with the reductive determination of gold in soil samples at the carbon paste electrode with tricresyl phosphate using constant-current stripping analysis. Gold was accumulated at a potential of +800 mV as tetrachloroaurate and then reduced at a constant current (-3 mA) to Au(0). The interference of Fe(III) present in mineralized samples in large excess was overcome by addition of a fluoride to the measured solution. The standard addition method was used to evaluate unknown concentrations. Precision of the method was checked by determination of recovery of Au spiked into a real matrix. A comparison of the results with those obtained by AAS showed no statistically significant differences.
