Abstract

The article summarizes literature findings on Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley oxidations on heterogeneous catalysts. including amorphous metallic oxides and zeolites that exhibit surface basicity or Lewis acidity. Attention is primarily focused on catalytic properties of high-silicate zeolites of ß-structure based on alumosilicates and titanosilicates. The reaction mechanism and high cis stereoselectivity of the catalysts are discussed. The reactions find use in the field of specialty chemicals.
