Abstract

Application of accelerated solvent extraction (ASE), which is an alternative to liquid extraction, was investigated for the isolation of additives from gun powders. ASE combines elevated temperatures and pressures with liquid solvents normally used in standard liquid extraction techniques such as Soxhlet extraction or sonication. ASE gave analogous results to those obtained with common techniques, but consuming less solvent and time.
