Abstract

The syntheses, detoxification, decontamination and degradation of yperite (bis(2-chloroethyl) sulfide), sarin (isopropyl methylphosphonofluoridate) and VX (S-[2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl]-O-ethyl-methylphosphonothioate) are discussed in the context of sarin attack in Ghouta as well as of the destruction of chemical warfare agents and their precursors, declared by Syria.
