Abstract

In recent decades, nanotechnology has undoubtedly been one of the most prominently growing areas of human research. The mass production of nanoparticles, however, demands further consideration of economical and environmental plausibility of procedures used in this area. "Green" methods using biological agents have thus become a center of interest for scientists all over the world. Reducing and stabilizing abilities of substances which originate from plants or microbes can be used in this regard. This review focuses on the production of silver nanoparticles by biosynthesis using products of both plant and microbial metabolism.
