Abstract

For industrial syntheses of fine chemicals, compounds bearing one C=C bond are interesting starting materials. These compounds can be obtained by hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds containing two or more conjugated double bonds. Various positional and configurational isomers can be formed in a hydrogenation step. It is well known that positions of the double bond and functional groups can significantly affect the properties of the product. For these reasons, it is crucial to find a suitable regio- and stereoselective catalytic complex to perform the hydrogenation step. The presented review considers the main homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts that are used for the selective hydrogenation of dienes and compounds with a conjugated diene system.
