Analysis of honeybees and their products can provide crucial information about the degree of environmental contamination by pesticide residues. One of the promising products is propolis tincture which is a complex mixture. It is essential to modify the procedure in order to reduce the potential contamination of the analytical instrument used to determine pesticides. QuEChERS sample preparation method (acronym of Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged and Safe) for the extraction of pesticides from the propolis tincture was proposed. Satisfactory extraction recoveries in the range of 70–120 % for 43 out of 47 pesticides have been obtained using C18, PSA and Florisil cleaning sorbents in the second step of QuEChERS procedure. Matrix effects and influence of interferences on the chromatographic signal were studied in detail.
