Abstract

Glycerol is the major byproduct in FAME production. Glycerol acetals or ethers prepared by the reaction of glycerol with aldehydes or isobutylene, respectively, can be used as fuel components or additives. The isomers of acetals and ethers were separated and characterized by GC-MS, FTIR and 1H NMR.
