Abstract

The article reviews the properties of ionic liquids and their polymeric analogues, the preparation of membranes based on ionic liquids and/or poly(ionic liquids) and main prospective applications of membranes containing ionic liquids. These applications include CO2/CH4 separation (biogas purification) and the electrochemical energy conversion and storage (in lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells).
